TYPES OF HAZARD/ EXPOSURE ACUTE HAZARDS/ SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Combustible. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.
NO open flames.
Powder, water spray, foam, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION

EXPOSURE
AVOID ALL CONTACT!
IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR!
•INHALATION Blue lips or finger nails. Blue skin. Convulsions. Dizziness. Headache. Nausea. Unconsciousness.
Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
•SKIN MAY BE ABSORBED! Blue lips or fingernails. Blue skin. (See Inhalation).
Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower.
 •EYES
Face shield.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
•INGESTION Blue lips or fingernails. Blue skin. (See Inhalation).
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
Rinse mouth. Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Give plenty of water to drink. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible then remove to safe place. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. (Extra personal protection: chemical protection suit including self-contained breathing apparatus).
Separated from strong oxidants, acids, acid anhydrides, acid chlorides, chloroformates and food and feedstuffs. See Chemical Dangers.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
RED TO YELLOW OILY LIQUID , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR. TURNS BROWN ON EXPOSURE TO AIR.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on burning producing toxic fumes of nitrogen oxides. Reacts with acids, acid anhydrides, acid chlorides, chloroformates and strong oxidants.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS:
TLV: 0.1 ppm (as TWA) (A3) (skin) (ACGIH 1998).
NIOSH REL: Ca 0.5 mg/m3 skin See Appendix A
NIOSH IDLH: Potential occupational carcinogen 50 mg/m3

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour, through the skin and by ingestion.

INHALATION RISK:
A harmful contamination of the air will be reached rather slowly on evaporation of this substance at 20°C; on spraying or dispersing, however, much faster.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance may cause effects on the blood , resulting in formation of methaemoglobin. The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated. See Notes.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
This substance is possibly carcinogenic to humans.
