TYPES OF HAZARD/ EXPOSURE ACUTE HAZARDS/ SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Flammable.
NO open flames, NO sparks, and NO smoking.
Powder, alcohol-resistant foam, water spray, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Above 33°C explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed.
Above 33°C use a closed system, ventilation, and explosion-proof electrical equipment.
In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.
EXPOSURE
STRICT HYGIENE!
IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR!
 •INHALATION Cough. Sore throat.
Local exhaust or breathing protection.
Fresh air, rest. Refer for medical attention.
 •SKIN MAY BE ABSORBED! Redness.
Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention. Wear protective gloves when administering first aid.
 •EYES Pain. Severe deep burns.
Safety goggles, face shield, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
 •INGESTION
Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
Rinse mouth. Rest. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. (Extra personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus).
Fireproof. Separated from strong oxidants, food and feedstuffs. Keep in the dark. Well closed.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
COLOURLESS LIQUID , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

PHYSICAL DANGERS:
The vapour is heavier than air.

CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance may polymerize under the influence of heat, oxidizers, peroxides, light. Reacts violently with oxidants. Attacks many plastics.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS:
TLV: 1 ppm; 2.3 mg/m3 (skin) (ACGIH 1996).
MAK: 2 ppm; 5 mg/m3; H (1995).
OSHA PEL: none
NIOSH REL: TWA 1 ppm (2 mg/m3) skin
NIOSH IDLH: No data

ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour, through the skin and by ingestion.

INHALATION RISK:
A harmful contamination of the air can be reached very quickly on evaporation of this substance at 20°C.

EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. The vapour irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. The substance may cause effects on the liver and kidneys , resulting in impaired function. Exposure above the OEL may result in death. Medical observation is indicated.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
PHYSICAL
PROPERTIES
Boiling point: 114°C
Melting point: -48 - -52°C
Relative density (water = 1): 0.97
Solubility in water: miscible
Vapour pressure, kPa at 20°C: 1.54
Relative vapour density (air = 1): 1.93
Flash point: 33°C c.c.
Explosive limits, vol% in air: 3.4-70
ENVIRONMENTAL
DATA
The substance is toxic to aquatic organisms.
N O T E S
The odour warning when the exposure limit value is exceeded is insufficient. Vapours are uninhibited and may polymerize, blocking valves and vents.
