Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire. NO open flames, NO sparks, and NO smoking. Foam, alcohol-resistant foam, powder, carbon dioxide, dry sand. EXPLOSION Above 48°C explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed. Above 48°C use a closed system, ventilation, and explosion-proof electrical equipment. Prevent build-up of electrostatic charges (e.g., by grounding). In case of fire: cool drums, etc., by spraying with water but avoid contact of the substance with water. Combat fire from a sheltered position. EXPOSURE AVOID ALL CONTACT! IN ALL CASES CONSULT A DOCTOR!  •INHALATION Burning sensation. Cough. Headache. Laboured breathing. Shortness of breath. Face shield, or eye protection in combination with breathing protection. First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.  •INGESTION Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. PHYSICAL DANGERS: The vapour is heavier than air and may travel along the ground; distant ignition possible. CHEMICAL DANGERS: The substance may polymerize due to heating and under the influence of various chemicals including organometallic compounds. The substance decomposes on burning producing toxic fumes (hydrogen cyanide, nitrogen oxides). Reacts with oxidants and strong bases, water, alcohol, acids and amines. OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS: TLV not established. ROUTES OF EXPOSURE: The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation and by ingestion. INHALATION RISK: No indication can be given about the rate in which a harmful concentration in the air is reached on evaporation of this substance at 20°C.
