TYPES OF HAZARD/ EXPOSURE	ACUTE HAZARDS/ SYMPTOMS	PREVENTION	FIRST AID/ FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE	Combustible.	NO open flames.	Powder, water spray, foam, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION	Finely dispersed particles form explosive mixtures in air.	Prevent deposition of dust; closed system, dust explosion-proof electrical equipment and lighting. Prevent build-up of electrostatic charges (e.g., by grounding).

EXPOSURE		AVOID ALL CONTACT!
•INHALATION		Local exhaust or breathing protection.	Fresh air, rest.
•SKIN		Protective clothing. Protective gloves.	Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
•EYES	Redness. Pain.	Safety goggles.	First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
•INGESTION		Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.	Refer for medical attention.

Dust explosion possible if in powder or granular form, mixed with air. If dry, it can be charged electrostatically by swirling, pneumatic transport, pouring, etc.

Reacts with oxidants. The substance decomposes on burning producing toxic and corrosive fumes .

Evaporation at 20°C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly.

The substance is mildly irritating to the eyes .

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization.

Commercial Phenyl-beta-naphthylamine may contain beta-Naphthylamine as an impurity. Phenyl-beta-naphthylamine is also metabolised in the body to beta-Naphthylamine which is a bladder carcinogen. See ICSC 0610 2-Naphthylamine. Do NOT take working clothes home.
